The Secret History
Donna Tartt
Under the influence of a charismatic classics professor, a group of clever, eccentric misfits at a New England college discover a way of thought and life a world away from their banal contemporaries. But their search for the transcendent leads them down a dangerous path, beyond human constructs of morality. “A remarkably powerful novel [and] a ferociously well-paced entertainment . . . Forceful, cerebral, and impeccably controlled.” —The New York Times

Why we picked this
Nothing says autumn like dark academia. For me, it's up there with pumpkin spice chai. And The Secret History is the epitome of the genre - often imitated, never duplicated. Is it technically a cozy read? No. But does it give me the warm fuzzies? I mean, like, a little bit. Especially depending on how much angst I'm carrying around. It's a story I can't help but crave at the first chill in the air or crunch of leaf underfoot.
