Le Glitch
Philip Ogley
Springtime. And a deathly quiet settles over the village of Crêpe. Except today, the mayor, Jean Marc Bulot, can hear a rumble in the distance. He looks out of his window and sees a car - the first for months. Then he sees another. And another. Suddenly, everyone is coming to Crêpe.
He opens a bar, a restaurant, a campsite and a shop - he even falls in love. Things are going well. Until the neighbouring village Ventrèche finds out and an ancient feud is reignited. Suddenly everyone has a score to settle, including himself.

Why we picked this
It's a fun read for a Saturday afternoon. Set in France, written by an English dude who lives nearby. It's my recommendation for a beach read. Set in a small village whose population is dwindling because a new road from the main highway directed travelers to a rival village. A car of strangers show up wanting food and the Mayor takes it as a sign that change is in the air.
