Bloom Anyway

A Plots & PossibiliTeas Box

The premise of this book drew me right in. Katie, the main character, is recovering from a brutal divorce has a chance to not only start her life over somewhere new, but learn some new skills, spend time in nature, and work for her best friend. Sounds like a good place to regroup and find some peace.

But when her gut tells her something is off about the way the last caretaker left, and a woman shows up in the middle of the night looking for help, she finds out there is more to bein caretaker than just keeping the paths clear and the gate working.

This book has just enough suspense to keep you glued to the page, but not so much that you can’t sleep at night. It’s a story about women helping women, trusting your instincts, and taking a stand.

One little note: This story does touch on the issue of domestic abuse. It is an issue all too many women face and one that requires a tremendous amount of compassion and resources to combat, which this story also shows.

  • Great suspense and lots of twists and turns
  • A beautiful setting out in nature
  • A main character learning a new job
  • A surprising yet satisfying ending
  • Mary Kubica, Kimberly Belle, and Michele Campbell
  • Suspense stories that you just have to keep reading
  • Stories about women helping women and about the courage to try something new

What's Inside This Box?

The Book

Katie’s divorce was, in a word, humiliating. So when her friend Bess offers a fresh start—a resident caretaking job at a nature preserve—Katie accepts. No matter that she’s not exactly a “nature person.” How hard can it be?

But from day one, something feels off. Katie’s new farmhouse looks as if the last caretaker barely moved out at all. When a frantic, terrified woman arrives late at night, expecting a safe place to hide, it’s clear caretaking involves way more than Katie bargained for.

Suddenly, Katie is no longer sure who she can trust: the brooding groundskeeper, the daily regulars—hikers, dog walkers, bird-watchers, photographers—even Bess.

As Katie digs deeper for clues in what the last caretaker left behind, she must discover courage she never knew she had—and decide how much she’ll risk to do the right thing.

This tea was inspired by the idea of a trip to your own secret garden. The nature preserve is a special kind of secret garden, where those who visit can begin the process of establishing new roots.

The Blossom Tea

Made with cornflowers, elderberries, and blueberries, this tea is a sweet, relaxing brew. Exactly the kind we’d expect to see on the shelf in the secret apartment.

One of the women who stayed with the caretaker loved strawberry shortcake. She even went so far as to have it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner three days in a row. These cookies are a nod to her struggle and her triumph.

Luna Moth Pop Socket

Among the many creatures, large and small, that Katie sees as the caretaker, is the luna moth. Now you can see its beautiful wings every time you use your phone.

Backyard Nature Stickers

Owls, foxes, birds of every kind and sort, rabbits, bugs, and so much  more – this is the life of the caretaker. Good thing all that wilderness is gorgeous, just like these stickers.

ReTea Bag
